I Never Though I'd Say This But....

I never thought I'd say this but I am very glad that John Edwards did not win the Democratic nomination for President. Enough said.

Because of his affair?

I wasn't a huge fan of Edwards either, but I don't think one's personal life and all the things they do in the bedroom should have anything to do with their leadership skills. I'd rather vote for a serial adulterer who has good ideas and policies than a so-called "moral" candidate whose ideas are terrible. Just my thought.

Julia, I completely agree with you. No, it's not because of his affair. It's because he couldn't be elected and McCain would win in our hypocritical, self-righteous country. Even "serial adulturers", to use your term, would vote against him because of his supposed lack of morals.

FDR had a mistress. So did Eisenhower. So did JFK. We all know about Bill Clinton's affairs. I'd rather have a Clinton or a Kennedy over a Bush or McCain any day. However, in today's 24-hour cable news, sensationalist feeding frenzy, pseudo-puritanical America men like this can't be elected.

What I'm saying is I don't want another Republican President.
